To begin, we must it to Gilles Leclerc, the father of Sylvain and Patrick. He began the barrels jumping at the school. During 2 years after having seen the others making this sport, it thus decided to take up the challenge of his buddies and to take part in its 1st competition at the 17 years age, it makes a collegial record of 13 barrels eclipsing the old record of 11 barrels.

The following year, it took part in a Carnival (a demonstration) and George Coallier Canadian champion will see Gilles Leclerc and asked him to be involved with him.

A beginning of career begin Canadian champion in 1963 and then took again its title of 1972 to 1976. It always holds the Canadian record external on ice naturalness with a jump of 16 barrels (26 feet and 10 inches). The personal record of Gilles is of 16 barrels (28 feet ½ inche).

In 1972, Gilles Leclerc opened a school of barrels jumping and speed skating to St-Bruno. Patrick Leclerc, one of his boys began the barrel jumping a few years later, then, during years it accumulated the records minim, peewee, bantam and become Canadian champion and thus world barrels jumping champion interior and outside.

Thereafter, Sylvain the brother of Patrick, began also barrels jumper and become Canadian champion in 1995.

Thus, the Leclerc family will be held with 16 barrels.

Indicator that there were no more organized competitions, the Leclerc brothers were turned over towards the demonstrations (spectacles).
